Final Fantasy XI - Back to the Noob Dunes

Hope everyone had a nice long holiday. I'm back at work today, sadly.

I've recently been logging back on FFXI but still stuck at level 70 since I can't beat Maat and get past the level cap to get to level 75. I'm 0/2 now. He always uses 2 hour and pounds me to oblivion whenever invincible wears off. I need to get a better sword so I can increase damage output and defeat him before the 8 min mark.

Since some people from my Linkshell (Kupoknights on Valefor) came back to FFXI, we decided to level our lowbie jobs using the level synch tool. I'm leveling my Ninja to 25 so my Warrior wouldn't be gimped when I'm subbing NIN. SO far it's been pretty good since we have someone Duo-boxing to heal us or raise us if we're in trouble. Current camps are at the Oasis and white-bone beach. level synching really helps and we get great EXP from doing skill chains. I forgot how annoying figuring out the Weapon skill order. x.x; I was looking at the chart and it didn't make sense to me..I haven't done a real EXP party in a long, long time so I've done some noob things like accidentally hitting the wrong macro or getting aggro from not being careful. I'm also too cheap to buy a ranged weapon to pull with my Ninja ;). I seriously have just 80k gil. The Avatar battles and Maat fights are costing me a pretty gil.

Yuletide Woes... indeed

The Lord of the Ringe Online - Yuletide Quests:

Out of all the Holiday MMO items this year, I think LOTRO wins by a landslide. There a great many rewards to reap for doing the yule-themed quests but the quests themselves can be grindy, frustrating and the chance of getting a good item is slim, depending on your luck. However once completed, you can receive special items such as festive yule-themed wallpapers to decorate your player house, furniture such as snowglobes, food-laden tables, candles, wreaths and holiday clothing, dyed in a multitude of colors. You can win a Yuletide horse/pony as well from participating in horse races in Bree and Hobbiton.

The best guide I found for doing the quest is on the forums.
Click Here to read the guide.

Keep in mind that the best way to get all items is to switch between characters, since you can only do the quest once every server restart time (daily). From what I researched, it's best to trade/open your rewards at different times since the rewards seem to be time based. I.E. If you get a coal, do not open your other gift box, or you'll most likely get another piece of coal. If you want the good stuff..better start now! It can take a while to get the stuff you want.

Final Fantasy XI - Starlight Celebration:

This year's new item is the Dream bell, which is basically a wand with a bell on the end of it. It goes along with your Dream Robe, hat and boots. It's a lot easier this year to get the Dream set, but the chance is also randomized. You start off by collecting Bell-themed tokens from astral boxes outside of cities, near the main exits. For more information, please read the following ffxiclopedia guide.

Merry Christmas and good luck!

Warhammer - first encounter with drama

I finally logged on Warhammer after being away for nearly a week. I only do ORVR now and ignore quests and scenarios since, those beginning to become a little repetitive and boring to me. My only issue with ORVR is that I wish Order players would attack us directly instead playing keep-tag. It was great that they put up some defense at the keeps, and even managed to wipe half the warband out last night but yeah..more resistance is fun, even if it is futile!

//Cry Moar Noob story of the week//

We all know many players don't listen and are generally greedy, selfish bastards ;)... Well, my first encounter with a "Cry Moar Noob player" -- lets call him "M" for now -- was about a few weeks ago while in a warband doing ORVR. He is also a disciple of khaine like me, but I noticed that he was barely keeping his party alive so I had to step up my heals and heal his party and mine at the same time. Then he started to whine about how he never gets high rolls for the loot, claiming that he was healing and doing DPS. He whined for like 2 hours while we were doing keeps and people were getting fed up and I think he /ragequit the Warband. Flash forward to last night...I join a Warband and I notice that the warband leader with other players, were fighting with "M" over region chat. It was getting pretty ugly. Apparently "M" and our warband leader had some history from DoAC. I'd rather not get into it. Seriously though, why hang dirty laundry out in the region chat?

I don't like "M". All he does is whine and complain. If he sucks less and does his job, he will get higher rolls on the loot. If you see him in the game, please /point and laugh at him. Congrats "M", you are the Cry Moar Noob of the week.

Warhammer Online: December Publish 1.1 thoughts

My Opinion of the new ORVR update: um...I think I liked it before when the keeps were harder to take. Breaking down the gates in less than 3 min flat and bum rushing the npcs doesn't seem like it's very challenging at all. Siege weapons are like rendered useless. It's nice to get rare armor drops and all but at the same time it's not quite satisfying as before. Plus, Order doesn't dare confront us and choose to ninja keeps due to their fear of being demolished by our large Destro numbers on Rey Eye Mountain.

I think something needs to be changed. More rewards for killing players or defending keeps, to keep PVP alive. Make BO's buff the keeps so there is an incentive to take back BO's. Maybe add some interesting stuff in the fields like traps and underground tunnels? I don't know. It seems like Mythic is willing to listen to what people want but the people don't know what they want!

Introduction

/wave. Welcome gamers! This is my official MMO gamer blog. I will be covering Warhammer Online, Final Fantasy XI and The Lord of the Rings Online. It will be primarily a warhammer blog though. I will also be discussing some tidbits from Pirates of the Caribbean online developments since I am working on that team at Disney.

A little bit about me: The first MMO I ever played was FFXI. I have been playing since American launch back in 2003. Luckily it was the last year of college for me so it didn't set back my grades too much, heh. I've played/tried numerous MMO's ranging from World of Warcraft to Rose Online. I'm a huge pop culture geek and I've been a gamer ever since I got the Nintendo Game boy back in the day, and it is the reason why I decided to pursue a career in the entertainment/ game industry.
